These Sport Cats are designed to free up exhaust flow upstream of the ZR1’s rear exhaust system, reducing restriction and allowing the twin turbochargers to respond more quickly throughout the RPM range.

Genuine HJS 200-Cell Racing Catalysts

At the heart of the system are two German-made HJS / EMITEC 200-cell tri-metallic catalytic converters.

Fabspeed states each catalyst is rated to support up to 1,200 horsepower, providing significant headroom for the factory LT7 as well as higher-output builds. The manufacturer also states the HJS cores flow approximately 90–92% of a straight pipe, offering very high exhaust-flow capability without eliminating the catalytic converters.

The catalysts are listed as EURO 6 homologated, with Fabspeed also describing them as European certified and TÜV approved.

Improved Turbo Response

Reducing exhaust restriction after the turbochargers can improve how efficiently the system evacuates exhaust gases. Fabspeed specifically claims quicker turbo spool-up and transient response, along with increased throttle response and more pronounced twin-turbo induction/exhaust character.

Lightweight T304L Stainless Steel Construction

The assemblies are constructed from aerospace-grade T304L stainless steel using precision laser fabrication and back-purged TIG welding.

High-Temperature Heat Management

Each assembly uses ceramic-fiber insulation rated for temperatures up to 2000°F / 1094°C, surrounded by a 625 Inconel double-wall heat blanket to help contain the extreme heat generated around the ZR1’s turbocharged exhaust system.
